On 20th January 2020, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Honourable Mark Ati, on behalf of the Vanuatu Government and its People, appointed Mr. Tran Nam Trung as Consul General of the Republic of Vanuatu to Vietnam in affirmation of Vanuatu’s intentions to strengthen Vanuatu’s political alliance, maintain cultural and trade relationships and to facilitate travel opportunities with the Government of Vietnam and its people.

With the inception of the Vanuatu Consulate General Office towards the latter of 2020 amidst the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, the physical representation of the Consulate General Office has permitted Vanuatu to attain recognition and maintain active engagement and dialogue on potential opportunities in strengthening the political and economic relations between Vanuatu and Vietnam.
