At present, there are no direct flights from Vietnam to Vanuatu. Therefore, passengers usually need to transit in a third country before reaching Port Vila (the capital of Vanuatu).
There are two common and most feasible routes:
🔹 Option 1: Transit in Australia
+ Vietnam → Sydney or Brisbane (Australia)
+ Sydney/Brisbane (Australia) → Port Vila (Vanuatu)
This is the most convenient route because Australia has many direct flights to Port Vila, with shorter travel time and smooth connections. However, Vietnamese citizens are required to apply for an Australian Transit Visa (Subclass 771) to take this route.
🔹 Option 2: Transit in Singapore and Fiji
+ Vietnam → Singapore (Changi Airport)
+ Singapore → Port Vila (Vanuatu) (usually with a stop at Nadi International Airport (NAN), Fiji)
With this option, passengers may be exempted from a Fiji transit visa if the layover is less than 3 hours. If the layover is more than 3 hours, a Fiji tourist visa is required.
