SIGNING OF MOU ON EDUCATION BETWEEN VIETNAM AND VANUATU

From January 18 to January 24, 2025, the Vanuatu Ministry of Education and Training, led by Mr. Bergmans IATI, Deputy Minister of Education and Training, paid an official visit to Vietnam.

This visit of the Vanuatu Ministry of Education and Training is to sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with many distinguished universities in Vietnam, including the University of Economics and Law, Nong Lam University, Van Lang University in Ho Chi Minh City; universities in Nha Trang such as Nha Trang University, Khanh Hoa University, Thai Binh Duong University; and Maritime University in Hai Phong. The MoU focuses on developing a dynamic learning environment, programs, and opportunities for Vanuatu students to gain practical knowledge and real-life applications through studying essential majors at partnered universities in Vietnam.

Representatives from the University of Economics and Law and the Deputy Minister of Education and Training of Vanuatu completed the signing of MoU.

Aside from educational goals, the visit also opens opportunities for cultural exchange between Vietnam and Vanuatu. The delegations and Vietnamese partners discussed ways to organize cultural events, art exhibitions, and community services to enhance mutual understanding. These events will help students and citizens of the two countries come closer together and create the premise for deeper cooperation in the future.

Despite the geographic distance between Vietnam and Vanuatu, the Deputy Minister of Education and Training of Vanuatu, Mr. Bergmans IATI, emphasized that the two countries are similar in history and spirit of nation-building. He also expressed his trust in Vietnam’s outstanding achievements in many areas, including education. When the students from Vanuatu get access to the modern and dynamic learning environment in Vietnam, they will gain lots of valuable knowledge and strong foundations that can support their contribution to the development of Vanuatu in the future.

One of the crucial highlights of the visit is that delegations also spent their time visiting the Consulate General office. Here, Mr. Bergmans IATI has expressed his thoughts on establishing an Office of Cultural and Education of Vanuatu in Vietnam to support the Vanuatu students adapt to the new living and learning environment. He also proposed to appoint an Education Attaché here in Vietnam who would work directly with the students. This is an essential mission in the context of great geographic distance, and the differences in culture, language, and lifestyle between the two countries are unavoidable. This Office will not only guide but also act as a bridge, navigating Vanuatu students to success on their educational journey.

This official visit of the Vanuatu Ministry of Education and Training is not only an educational cooperation event but also a symbol of friendship and commitment to sustainable development between the two countries.
