In his welcome speech, Mr. Phan Van Mai, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, reviewed the historical milestones of the Vietnamese people, emphasizing 78 years ago, under the leadership of President Ho Chi Minh and the Communist Party. Chairman Phan Van Mai said that in the first 8 months of 2023, the socio-economic situation of Ho Chi Minh City has improved; Industrial production increased by 2.8%, trade and service revenue increased by 7.6%, foreign direct investment attraction reached 1.97 billion USD (the highest in the country); Cultural, social and foreign affairs activities take place vibrantly; National defense and security are guaranteed. Since the beginning of the year, Ho Chi Minh City has welcomed nearly 40 high-level foreign delegations, including heads of many countries, and co-chaired with international partners more than 45 events commemorating the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations and forums. promoting trade, investment, cultural exchange events,… THCM leaders have had more than 120 international receptions, focusing on promoting trade and investment cooperation after Covid-19, and building smart urban areas and implementing key projects of the city.
